"This face mask is incredibly hydrating and comes at a great promotional price…" The Bonded Logistics Center in Qingdao's West Coast New Area has been bustling with activity in recent days where e-commerce livestreamers vigorously promote imported products to their online audiences while warehouse staff shuffle around hurriedly behind them, moving swiftly along the aisles, sorting goods, packing and label as quickly as they could at the imported goods warehouse. Once ready, the imported parcels are rapidly scanned by customs inspection systems, cleared by officers, and promptly dispatched via courier to destinations across the country.
This logistics center is the only Type B bonded logistics facility in Shandong Province dedicated primarily to serving the cross-border e-commerce sector. It hosts a number of major platforms, including Cainiao, Vipshop, and Douyin. As the 618 Mega E-Commerce Shopping Festival hits its peak, the pace of customs clearance and delivery for cross-border orders has become a race against the clock.
To ensure efficient customs clearance and a seamless shopping experience for consumers, Huangdao Customs—under Qingdao Customs—launched a series of preparatory measures in early May. These included targeted support and streamlined procedures to help e-commerce platforms maximize the best window of timing of this sale season. Authorities worked closely with e-commerce companies to guide them in advance declarations and pre-stocking, while also maintaining 24/7 appointment-based customs clearance services. This enabled a smooth "arrive, inspect, release, and dispatch" process for incoming parcels. Huangdao Customs has also actively promoted a range of facilitation measures including electronic payment of import duties, digital tax guarantees, and customs duty insurance for cross-border retail imports—all aimed at reducing operational costs for businesses.
A series of consumption-boosting policies introduced since the start of the year across the country have unleashed strong consumer appetite, with cross-border e-commerce becoming a key driver of domestic demand and foreign trade growth as the range and origin of imported e-commerce goods are growing significantly more diversified in Qingdao. Beyond traditional categories such as maternity and beauty products, home appliances like coffee machines and rice cookers are also gaining popularity. The total order volume for this year's 618 Mega E-Commerce Shopping Festival is expected to exceed 500,000, according to preliminary estimates from companies operating within the QWCNA Bonded Logistics Center.
