Phase I of the Qingdao Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance and Innovation Base project recently passed its final completion acceptance.
Located in the Qingdao National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Phase I spans roughly 150 mu (about 10 ha) with a total floor area of approximately 150,000 m². It comprises 14 standalone buildings—including a laboratory, R&D incubation hall, scientific-research support building, life-services block, rehabilitation center, canteen, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Hall, and physical-examination center—offering a wide range of functions. The development is divided into two main sectors: the western zone (R&D and incubation) features red-brick façades harmonized with Chinese-style architectural elements; the eastern zone (medical and wellness) employs classical garden-making techniques to echo traditional courtyard layouts and embody the cultural lineage of TCM.
Through a deep collaboration with the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the base will become a national center for marine-derived herbal research and a flagship hub for TCM heritage and innovation. The TCM Hall and physical examination center will assemble leading practitioners to form a high-end TCM health-service platform and a demonstration zone for heritage-driven innovation. The wellness sector will not only serve as a specialized therapeutic venue and clinical application base for research outcomes, but also integrate multiple resources to forge a complete ecosystem of rehabilitation technologies and services. Looking ahead, the project will leverage the unique advantages of China's Bay of Health initiative to evolve into a comprehensive demonstration park—bringing together technological innovation, talent development, and industry incubation—to deliver enhanced TCM and wellness services to the community.
